Produced by Malcolm Springer (who has also worked alongside Matchbox 20, Collective Soul, Eric Clapton, Kenny Wayne Shepherd and Nappy Roots, among others) at the House of Blues studios in Nashville, the smokin’, unapologetic, make-no-bones-about-it tune cranks with a fiddle opener that is fueled by banjo highlights throughout. With a nod to Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Hank Jr., the contemporary production and loud and proud vocals are characteristic of Poorman’s unique “Red White & Blue Collar” style and takes listeners to a new high far beyond “The Dark Side Of The Moon.” The new release follows the momentum of Poorman’s debut single, “American Made,” which was met with early welcome and applause at country radio and among fans topping out at No. 68 on the MusicRow Country Breakout Chart (Sept. 2021). “This song just kind of wrote itself. ’Hippie @ Heart,’ is basically about me and my upbringing,” said the Washington native, Dakota Poorman. “Growing up, I listened to Willie Nelson and Pink Floyd, and explored ‘recreational fun’ before I became more serious about my musical journey.
