WILLIE NELSON’S NEW ALBUM, COUNTRY MUSIC, TO BE SOLD AT STARBUCKS
SOUNDSTAGE TO BEGIN AIRING FEBRUARY 25
News out of Willie Nelson’s camp is that Beginning April 20, Willie’s new album, Country Music (Rounder) will be stocked at all Starbucks for 4 weeks! We love Willie and we love caffeine so we are definitely excited!!
“Soundstage will also celebrate his album release when it begins airing his episode nationally on PBS beginning February 25th (check local listing for
dates and times). Displaying a close connection with the audience, Willie and his-eight piece band (featuring a banjo, mandolin, fiddle, steel guitar and more) gather round the stage to highlight songs from his new album,Country Music, produced in collaboration with T-Bone Burnett. The title is deceptively simple: Country Music. The concept, likewise, seems quite familiar: an American musical icon dipping into the country musicsongbook to record fresh versions of timeless classics just like he did when he recorded Stardust, a definitive collection from The Great American Songbook.
“I’ve known T Bone for years, but never worked with him before,” Willie says. “He sent me a list of 28 songs he’d thought about for this album and I
added ‘Nobody’s Fault But Mine.’ We recorded 23 and picked 15 out of that to release.“
Appropriately, Country Music was recorded in Nashville with an A-list band picked by Burnett. “The best people around,” Willie says of a group that included Ronnie McCoury on mandolin, Jim Lauderdale on background vocals and Buddy Miller on electric guitar.”
