HOMETOWN BOY CARTER HAMRIC CELEBRATES BIG ‘BAMA WIN WITH NATIONAL RELEASE—“ROLL TIDE ROLL”
Hamric Completes Studio Recording Of Country Crimson Tide Tune In Anticipation Of ‘Bama’s Bowl Championship
NASHVILLE, TN (January 8, 2010)—In anticipation of the Alabama Crimson Tide win last night—defeating the Texas Longhorns 37 to 21 to become the 2010 BCS National Champions—Nashville recording artist (and Alabama native) Carter Hamric went into the studio on Wednesday to put the spit polish and shine on what he hopes will become the Crimson Tide’s official and one and only musical mantra. Hamric wrote “Roll Tide Roll,”** an underground, independent tune that was released to radio and television, both locally and nationally, in December; it soon became the most requested song all over the state. Hamric quickly caught the attention of sports enthusiasts and media; he’s appeared on radio, television and in print in recent weeks in support of the song, including The Huntsville Times, “The Backyard Jamboree” and ABC News.
Hamric co-wrote the song along with Jared Shepard, a member of the Million Dollar Band, and his father, Mike Shepard. Jared Shepard graduated from Bob Jones High school and is a sophomore at the University of Alabama. “Roll Tide Roll” (produced by Bernard Porter) trumpets the familiar traditions of All-American, Alabama football. The lyrics tout loud and clear the pride and joy of being a ‘Bama fan; “You know that I love my Alabama Football, there ain’t nothin’ like it that I know. Well, I was raised on Southern pride, my blood runs Crimson Tide…and I love to hear that Roll Tide Roll.” The unadulterated, passionate lyrics combined with Alabama’s big win make the tune a shoe-in to become the team’s quintessential anthem.
The corresponding video (featuring the energy and excitement of game clips) can be viewed on YouTube (); the video has already enjoyed nearly 18,000 views.
Hamric is a lifetime Alabama fan who was born and raised in Huntsville. He graduated from Madison Academy and is currently a sophomore at Nashville’s Lipscomb University majoring in business marketing. Juggling his education with his musical aspirations, Hamric signed a development deal with PCG-Nashville as an artist/songwriter and will begin work in the studio to record his first album in January 2010. He’s set to release his first single this spring entitled “Facebook Her” on Aspen Records.
